About hunting in Hungary
Hungary, a country of over 93,000 square kilometres in the heart of Europe, is bordered by Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine and Romania. With a population of only 9.7 million, Hungary is well known for its hospitality and notably overseas hunters who flock to the country in pursuit of red deer, roe, fallow, mouflon and wild boar. . . and also to enjoy Hungary’s hospitality and cuisine. Why is wildlife in this country so renowned? In Hungary forestry, farming and hunting all play an important role in the economy, in part due to the productive soil countrywide which provides ideal conditions for large game. In addition, Hungarian Wildlife Management, established over 200 years ago, has an important role to play in terms of seasons, records, winter feeding and selective hunting. As a result, the wildlife population is extensive, in good health and numbers improve annually. The Hungarian Big Five . . . roe, red deer, fallow, mouflon ram and wild boar . . are renowned and attract hunters worldwide. Zsolt Kovacs, known to English hunters as George, operates HH Hunting Ltd. Based in England for the past five years he organises hunting trips for clients to his native Hungary and with perfect English, George personally leads hunting parties to premium hunting grounds and has access to historical estates.

I've known George for over 5 years now and visited Hungary a number of times in pursuit of various wild game. We have pursued some of the finest Red Stags, Roe Bucks and Wild Boar in some of the most beautiful oak forests I have ever seen. The accommodation and food are always top-notch and he always goes the extra mile to ensure that you have the best time possible. The hunting guides are always professional and you can always trust them to put you on the animals and teach you the Hungarian way of hunting steeped in tradition. I have known George for around 8 years or so, during which time I have received clients from him to hunt with me and have also taken clients and friends of mine to hunt with George. Had an excellent time hunting with Hunting in Hungary. I booked somewhat last minute, but they were able to accommodate. They made the coordination process very simple. Transport, accommodations, meals, and the hunt itself were all very professional and well organized. My guide was also able to translate and help me through the cultural nuances of Hungary, which was also very helpful. The driven hunt itself was very memorable. There were plenty of animals, and I was able to harvest a red deer hind and a nice-sized boar. Other hunters in the group harvested five or more animals. Overall, a great experience.
Zsolt organized a perfect driven hunt, the local hunting society provided a high quality hospitality. All hunters participated in a very traditional Hungarian hunting ceremony with horn blower.
The support staff and services were wonderful including: drivers, guides, food, lodging and more were excellent. We never needed anything that was not seen to quickly. There were plenty of animals to choose from and the guides were very competent. The overall experience was more than I expected as this was my first hunt with an outfitter.
George was great at problem solving, and the guide and location and game were great. The value is excellent!

Amazing host, PHs and staff that organized the hunt. Accommodation was very comfortable, food was tasty and the overall experience and hunting traditions were something to remember. Everything was arranged for me - this made it so much easier to go on a hunt like this.
Communication with George was easy and effective, he was on top of everything, and solved issues on the move. Hunting was great! We went for red deer hinds and there were plenty of them. The countryside was amazing and had various habitats to hunt, there were no other hunters around and couldn't ask for better conditions. Friendly guides that really know the land they hunt. Good value for money and an excellent experience. Will not hesitate to come again and send friends to hunt with George.
